WANTED SUSPECT ARRESTED THROUGH COMBINED PUBLIC SAFETY EFFORTS

(5/16/2008) (NEW HAVEN)— This morning at 6:00 AM police apprehended 22-year-old Ricky Freeman of 42 Warner Street, a wanted suspect, who was found hiding in a closet at residence on Salem Street. Freeman was a New Haven's Most Wanted Criminal who police sought in connection with the December 29th, 2006 shooting of Andre Whitfield, an incident that took place on Foote St in the Dixwell policing district. The apprehension was a joint effort with the New Haven Police Detective Division and the US Marshal's Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Freeman was charged with:

- Assault 1st

- Reckless endangerment 1st degree

- Possession of a pistol or revolver

- Carrying a pistol without a permit

Freeman is being held on a $200,000 dollar bond.
